Where Do Your Calories Come From?

You may have noticed juice bars popping up inside your sports club or all natural claims plastered across more and more food labels. Although you may feel like healthy, nutritious food is everywhere these days, it doesn’t mean that people are buying it.

A recent study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition reports that 61% of the food purchased by Americans is highly processed – accounting for almost 1000 calories per day.

Over 157,000 shoppers provided data on their purchases from 2000-2012 and collectively purchased the most refined breads and grain-based dessert like cookies, sugary sodas, juice, sports drinks and energy drinks.
