Meatless Monday

More and more consumers are reducing their intake of meat, but what are they replacing it with? How can you replace all of that protein and essential minerals and vitamins?

The answer should not be to solely try and replace them through dairy. Plant based proteins, such as nuts, seeds, beans and whole grains can help one make up the deficit, but variety is key as no one plant protein is “complete” – containing all essential amino acids.

Meatless Monday may have a place at your table, but it shouldn’t be mindless – choose your meat replacement wisely and make sure it’s varied.
