Fast Food intake linked to academic performance in children

The link between childhood obesity and fast food consumption has already been well explored but a recent study at Ohio State University has also found a link between fast food consumption and academic performance.

More specifically, the higher the frequency of fast food consumption, the worse children scored in math, reading, and science tests during their 8th grade year with test scores up to 20% lower among children who ate fast food.

Researchers continued to find relationships after accounting for exercise, television time, socioeconomic status, food consumptions and neighborhood characteristics.
